The Prince Edward Island Golf Association has established a Junior Golf Development Fund . The goal is to provide Island youth with access to the sport and the opportunity to develop their interest and skills regardless of their financial circumstances .
“ We believe that Junior Development Fund will provide an opportunity for local boys and girls to be introduced to the great game of golf and to develop their skills “ said P.E.I.G.A. President Wayne Levy.
The P.E.I. Junior Golf Development Fund was the idea of local CPGA Golf Professional Errol Nicholson and his wife Edith and they are the first contributors .
“ Golf has been a significant part of our lives and we feel a responsibility to give something back to the game . We also hope that our support will encourage others in the community to contribute to the next generation of golfers . There are a lot of people who have benefited from an association with golf and we encourage them to show their appreciation for what golf has meant to them by making a contribution to this Fund “ said Mr. Nicholson.
“ We are overwhelmed by the Nicholson’s thoughtfulness and generosity . The establishment of this endowment will have a profound impact on golf in this province and I have no doubt that their gift will have a positive influence on the development of junior golfers for many years “ said P.E.I.G.A. Executive Director Ron MacNeill .
