The Prince Edward Island Golf Association handed out its annual awards on Saturday . October 27th . The event recognizes the best golfers in the province in 2012 as well as individuals who have made a significant contribution to the sport over the past year. Award winners included :

Prior to the presentation of the awards P.E.I.G.A. President Wayne Levy took time to thank Errol and Edith Nicholson for establishing a Junior Development Fund . The long time Green Gables golf pro said that golf was a significant part of his life and that he and his wife wanted to help introduce more kids to the game . He urged others in the community that have had a long association with golf to support the P.E.I. Junior Development Fund through a contribution.
Executive Director of the P.E.I.G.A. Ron MacNeill explained the Association’s plan to hire a Provincial Golf Coach in 2013 who will be a resource for golfers at all levels.
“ This will be the first time in the Association’s 41 year history that we will have the services of a coach to guide and assist our most competitive players. We believe that this will benefit player development in the province and improve the performance of our players at regional and national competitions including next years Canada Games “ said Mr. MacNeill .
